Another excellent few days spent over on the beautiful Isle of Man for the TT action. Once again we stayed in the Dukes TT village, a collection of freight containers done out with 2 beds and an en-suite bathroom, perfect for the event and close to the paddock. Arriving on the Thursday afternoon, unfortunately there had been an RTC on the mountain so there was no track action that day, which meant Friday was VERY busy with 2 sessions of qualifying. We headed out at 8 and walked down to the Elec...
Diving Kingfishers. Ever since i got into photography about 12 years ago, I have been interested in showing something different from wildlife shots, and as I got more experienced I wanted to show Kingfishers diving with the motion caught as well. It is a technique using a slow shutter speed against a dark background that still has some exposure, and then firing the flash at the end of the exposure, called 2nd curtain flash. Motor bikes and close encounters with Lions! Well a very hectic start to the month of June 2023, firstly a 3 day trip to the Isle of Man to see the first 2 days of TT racing, then away for 12 days to the Zimanga game reserve in South Africa for more amazing experiences photographing the wildlife. It was out first visit to the TT, and what an experience to get that close to the riders as they flash past at 190 MPH, between stone walls! We spent the first day on Bray Hill, then went t...
Wymondham Kingfishers Jan 2022 I went for a walk on the River Tiffey footpath in Wymondham in early Jan, and was amazed to see a male Kingfisher sat on a branch taking in the winter sun! I had heard from a friend that one had been spotted, and knew they had nested there before, but great to see it within 10 mins of getting there! Kingfishers like shallow, slow moving rivers and streams, with plenty of branches to perch on and fish from, the Tiffey is perfect for this, especially after a lot of...

I went on a trip with 7 other photographers organised by Jon and Allen at Norfolk Wildlife Photography who have been many times, and if ever there was a ‘trip of a lifetime’ then this was it! Because of all th...
